From baking tiny clay doll parts in her mother’s oven as a little girl, to carefully hand-stitching miniature outfits for her childhood creations, Nicolene has always been drawn to making beautiful things with her hands. Years later, a Christmas gift from her husband — a sewing machine — reignited that creative spark. But it was a simple conversation during an art class that truly opened the door to what would become Fabric & Floss.

Inspired by the magic of handmade dolls, Nicolene taught herself the art of doll making — spending months perfecting patterns, testing designs, and carefully crafting each tiny detail until every doll felt just right. What began as a creative hobby soon became a passion for making modern heirloom dolls that are meant to be hugged, loved, and cherished for years to come.

Today, from her cozy home in Pretoria East, Nicolene continues to lovingly stitch each Fabric & Floss friend — hoping that every doll finds a home where new stories can be written and treasured.
